Chronicles of an Intuitive Eater #2 – Real Talk (Reject the Diet Mentality)
Another real talk for real people guys! This installment discusses the first principle of Intuitive Eating, Reject the Diet Mentality. Throw out the diet books and magazine articles that offer you false hope of losing weight quickly, easily, and permanently. Get angry at the lies that have led you to feel as if you were a failure every time a new diet stopped working and you gained back all of the weight. If you allow even one small hope to linger that a new and better diet might be lurking around the corner, it will prevent you from being free to rediscover Intuitive Eating. Im still working on this principle as I still weigh my food on a daily basis. Please note that if you are currently dieting and its working for you then go for it. This video is in no way telling you what to do or suggesting that your way to a healthy life style is wrong! Im just expressing my feelings based on my own personal experience. Hey @anitdnahS, as I am striving to love who I am NOW, I have things I can’t let go of yet either. I am going to go through my closet and donate all of the clothes that are too big, but there will be a lot of tears and fears letting go of the stuff that is too small, even if the styles are years out of date…LOL. There is a goal outfit I may hold onto, we wil see. As far as your dessert, just wait until you are hungry again and have it first before you eat anything else

Hey K! Sounds like you are really progressing with IE. I just finished eating lunch and it was really yummy but I’m bummed because I wasn’t able to eat my dessert (Yoplait Delights Parfait) because I got satisfied
This is so great! I can possibly part with the cookbooks but giving away my scales at this point would be like cutting my right arm off! LOL LOL

Loved your Video AnitdnahS! Weekends used to be my downfall, I behaved all week and went crazy on Sundays. I have also stopped that. And yes, I tend to eat things just because I want them and not because I am physically hungy, that is a work in progress as well, but at least that is not a daily habit anymore. Keep up the good work and give away those food scales and diet cookbooks you don’t use. It is a huge step, but I know you can do it!

HI Sista, yeah… Intuitive Eating. We were all born intuitive eaters but somewhere down the line we lost sight of our signals. Ever try to force feed a baby? It just can’t happen. When that baby is hungry it will cry bloody murder until he or she is fed and once she or he has had enough they STOP eating. I’ll keep you posted.

Hi gracerenewed. LOL – this is still so new for me that sometimes I’m not quite sure if it’s going to work. But I know it’s going to take time.
Yeah, I lost her in August and it’s so hard. I’m so sorry to hear about your loses. But you are right, He will help us get back on track.
How long have you been doing IE?

you asked~ who am I trying to convince, you or me? I answered- both! Did your mom die last year? I had lost my mom and sister within a month of each other which was hard but the Lord is helping me to get back on track, Intuitive eating has really helped me.
