I ordered this book a long time ago, the estimated deadline for delivery lapsed but I never received this book. It is sold by clemieux2499 through Amazon. I would never buy another book from that seller again!

Maybe the best feature of Premiere Pro is the nonlinear editor. For those of you who used some earlier video editors that lacked this ability, the contrast can be striking. Premiere gives true random access to your video, unlike the often painfully slow sequential access. The thing is, if you have never edited video before, and you are now staring at Premiere, it can be hard to appreciate what a sheer timesaver this is. Yes, of course the text goes into many more details of Premiere. But in terms of what is simple and important, nonlinear editing is one of the key aspects.

Just to quickly remark on other features. The audio editing is straightforward. And you can easily edit audio and video separately, along with combining the results.

The book even talks about fonts for label displays, mentioning ideas like kerning. Traditionally, kerning was something for typesetters, in the static printed context. But the book shows how for labelling in video, this is also useful to know.

OK I am an audio editor and engineer.I have much experience with excellent intuitive audio software so this product has been a big let down not to mention the fact that it is behind Sony in HD capture. There is no manual with the $800 product except for the one you buy separate and that does not describe the actual software topography, many icons deeper in the software are not defined… your guess is as good as mine. I have threaded the needle as far as the non linear editing and it does work but with more fuss than is really necessary. I’m assuming the finish product will be great and the functions will be productive as I get deeper into it, industry standard that it is and all……

not for linear thinkers or those who enjoy clarity.

I just purchased Premiere Pro Classroom in a Book. The Project used for Lesson 01 does not even load. Instead, the grammatically incorrect message “Fileformat not supported” appears. Blogs suggest upgrading/installing QuickTime. It seems odd that Apple software is required to learn Premiere. (And this does not work for me.)

I am working through the book without the software, but an enormous amount of video editing experience is assumed. Page 12 says that “this book is geared to the beginning and intermediate video editor,” but spends much of the first chapter discussing very advanced concepts.

I am not sure who the audience is for this book. The experienced editor will probably be more bored than the novice editor is overwhelmed.

    Good luck with your projects.

I bought the CIB Premiere Pro CS4 book so I could learn Pr and check it out. The first DVD doesn’t load to allow taking the tour the first chapter is covering.

Almost every chapter has you open the chapter and subheading and you get a red slide with media offline in 7 languages.

If you go back to can import the avi files from the hard disc and work your way through the lesson. As you get further along you need more reverse engineering to work around the Red Media Titles.

Much of it is well done but it is slow going to achieve the complete lesson.

With an error page on Peach Pit, this could have been a way to readers communicate the problems they were having.

This is the only page I could find where I could complain about the book.

Once I can run Premiere Pro ok I want to see if it will capture, import or whatever to allow the Program to edit my AVCHD I shot from my Sony Camcorder HDR-SR11

    Thanks for listening

    Ron
