Concise, helpful. These guides and iptables is not a full reference. However, the author has succeeded in a little book packs quite like this. Since the beginning of 82pages index page. Page 21 theory and operation – connection tracking, accounting, NAT, SNAT and DNAT, and transparent proxy, load balancing, stateless / stateful. The following 61 pages, iptables reference. E ‘in reference command should be to find some interesting nuggets’ as: 1) How to limit rate of incoming traffic. Can provide 10 square meters per second as an example. 2) How to configure the address pool, IP to match the source and / or destination address. Instead, each line write the IP address or netblock, and throw a pool of addresses to write a line for each pool. 3) match more gates looking like the same line? And so on. Worth every penny. He lives in the name of O’Reilly. I recommend all Linux system administrator. Rating: 4 / 5

I do not think this requires a lengthy explanation. This will be the administrator of an easy using the Quick Reference Guide. No matter how good you are if you have a little ‘something to help, Linux as the system operator has done a lot of simple and complex. Well, that is. Grub will not regret it! Last night I fly by the system administrator has been forced to become. I am a web developer as a small local start-up, worked, my boss when the sysadmin role thrust on the server in the office decided to host our website. I have developed our site for the Ubuntu server had to learn on the spot to secure server. In this regard, I read that the best bang for the dollar was worth all other books I have visited your site. And ‘short and sweet. It explains that you should know, given your reference to the syntax of iptables to deal with, that’s all. No flowers or color photographs of text. However, “this easy to do X” are not, system administrator, especially if your feet wet and if you get this book. AND ‘cheaper, means you need to know fits in your pocket. I like anything? This book, Unix systems administrator, however, is written for Linux programmers. The theme is iptables to protect your network from intruders closely related. System administrators. Furthermore, the compact size is ideal for notebooks common scenario. System administrators are faced with the engine room of your company, which is surrounded by racks of computers and cables. Anywhere in the room for a small device the size of the text that supports their identification, regular intrusion. Perhaps the master console is Uizui some old monitors you got stuck. Or even worse, it’s just a terminal. This is really embarrassing if iptables can do with a man running and, especially if they are active intrusion in real time mode. In other words, this book is perfect. Rating: 4 / 5
