OSHO: Books I have Loved

To me a book is not just a book, it is a love affair… I have loved reading from my very childhood. My own personal library consisted of one hundred fifty thousand rare books of all the religions, philosophies, poetry, literature. And I have read all of them, but with no purpose; I enjoyed it. —— The OSHO Library is maintained by Osho International Foundation. All of these books have been read, signed and dated by Osho, except about lO,OOO which have been gathered on his request after he stopped reading. Osho’s personal library is now housed in a building named “Lao Tzu House” at the Osho Meditation Resort in Pune, India. The library holds more than 150000 volumes, mostly in the humanities, including history, psychology, religion and philosophy. It also features a quite substantial collection of the classic literature of East and West, along with an impressive array of biographies, books on physics and earth sciences, etc. The library has been created with aesthetic considerations in mind, the object being to create a light and airy feeling rather than the “heavy” and “serious” look of so many libraries. Books are sorted according to size and color, and placed on the shelves in an arrangement that suggests ocean waves. The effect is organic and natural, with no solid blocks of color or size to grab the eye and weigh it down. Osho himself was an avid book collector and reader throughout most of his life, and the library includes volumes that he has kept in pristine

    legends say that the wisest man will have a beard as white as heaven and as long as should grow. OSHO whould be wiser if he were Athiest.

    I agree with Osho. ‘The Brothers Karamazov’ is for me, a work of prophetic genius that bores deep into the ultimate essence of human nature. I consider Doestoevsky to be a prophet.

    @freaksurfer016 He didn’t say he got his truth from books, he said he read books for no other purpose than for enjoyment. His genius isn’t his knowledge for knowledge is simply words and ideas regurgitated from others, passed down through the ages, refined further and passed down again. His genius is in his being awake, conscious of his center, of what he is and what he is not.

    @freaksurfer016 He’s just collected data from various books like upanishads.etc and has applied his own intellect and thus provided his own evolutionary interpretation…..

    @freaksurfer016 your pastor and priest does the exact same thing and most of you follow without doubt or question. Most of the garbage you have been fed comes from a book. The Bible!

    @Kapojos How can he read 15 books a day ??. I mean I would be pleased if you can explain how that’s phisicaly possible…

    i didnt like this .. because he says that reading a thousand and something books have made him get his own truth from philosophers. so then hes just telling people his knowledge that hes learned from books written by simple normal philosophers.?? this killed everything man i thought he was genius

    @Kapojos @IHIICOD, @temporanigra
    Ken Wilber used to read about 10 a day, but he also writes. Only so many hours in a day! LOL It must be possible. I’m glad to hear him speak so highly of Dostoy.

    I have also devoted a great portion of my time to reading, but unlike Osho I have given many books away. I cannot honestly say how many books I have read but it is not in the hundreds of thousands, not even in the tens of thousands. Not even close, but it has been a pleasure to read every one.

    How is possible to read 150 000 books? He died 58 years old. That means that he could begin to read when he was 4, he stopped 10 years before death… That means about 44years for reading… So 44*365=16060 days… So that means 10books for a day? I dont want to seem suspicious, but you know… Any Ideas??????
